Choosing your vows together or writing personalised vows as a surprise is a beautiful and memorable way to declare your love to each other. C&C choose to renew their vows in a unique way they choose to write vows to each other in the form of a love letter with new promises pledged, funny moments shared all wrapped in appreciation for the love they give to each other.
It can be really fun spending time selecting readings and asking a close friend or relative to be part of your ceremony. Don't worry if you don't have the time to find a reading you love I can help make selections for you. In A&S’s ceremony, their best friend choose a surprise reading that she adapted to be more personal. The first time they heard it was on the day of the ceremony it was a beautiful and very special moment.
Singing and Performances
From hymns to singing along to tracks from your life adding a song to the ceremony will change the energy. Love is to be celebrated, shout about it and share it. In R&S’s ceremony, they created a video montage of all their favourite pictures from when they first met, married and their happiest times to accompany the video they picked 3 songs, one that reminded them of the first time they met, their first dance song and the song that reminds them of their marriage.
Adding symbolism can bring a deeper meaning to your ceremony. You could create a unique unity ritual of your own or take inspiration from the past or your cultures such as a handfasting or sand ceremony. In K&T’s ceremony, we lit 6 candles the first from K&T to symbolise their relationship as the foundation for their family, their 5 children then lit their candle from that source to represent that their parents will always be there to protect and be a place from which they can always draw comfort. The candles will be kept and relit whenever they need them to remind them of that moment and the lightness and happiness they bring to each other’s lives.
